Trips and Visits

Throughout the school year there will be opportunities to participate in a variety of trips and visits as we believe that these are fundamental to a rich curriculum. Some of these will be directly connected to the subjects that each student is following, whilst others will be purely cultural, providing our students with time to connect with music, arts, history and the theatre. Below are a selection of some of the trips that we have offered to our students.

Cuffley Park Trip

Img 6325This trip was a three-day, two-night whole school trip at the beginning of the year so that our students, who joined us from over 62 different schools, could bond over outdoor activities such as archery, shelter building and climbing. It was a highlight of the academic year and undoubtedly helped to establish the kind and collaborative culture of our school.

PwC trip

Close to a third of our students visited the PwC Offices in London to gain valuable insights into the various aspects of the business. From auditing to data analytics, AI and consultancy their expert speakers engaged our students throughout. There was also time to network and ask questions as well as the opportunity to learn about the work experience programmes and degree apprenticeships that PwC offer.

Computer Science Trip

Shared imageOver 50 of our computer scientists’ students visited the Emmanuel Centre in Westminster for a day of university-style lectures. They were entertained by speakers from academia, industry and the media on areas including AI, software design and systems architecture. These thought-provoking sessions enriched our classroom theory with real-world examples.

Oxford Schools Debating Competition

Four of our students, alongside other schools across the county, attended the preliminary round in Richmond. They did themselves proud, debating complex and nuanced topics such as ‘Should Euthanasia be Legalised?’ and ‘Should there be Mandatory Conscription?’.

Thorpe Park Trip

Roller-coasters are governed by complex mathematical and physical laws that need to be studied from time to time. The students at SuMS reluctantly obliged and had a fantastic day!
